Dallas Startup Week Gaming Track
Apr 2 - Apr 6Free
Dallas Startup Week 2018 comes to Frisco for the first time. The 4th annual installment of Dallas Startup Week is set to draw in more attendees than ever in 2018. The week long celebration of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship will expand the awareness and reach of the event by including other entrepreneurial areas outside of core downtown Dallas. This marks a remarkable milestone for the entrepreneurial ecosystem in North Texas as the Dallas startup community as other important areas of the community, such as Frisco bring additional value to the event. The Dallas startup community is growing, and it makes sense to include all the areas around DFW that contribute to that growth.
Frisco, one of the fastest growing cities in the country has made a push to become a significant part of the DFW startup community. Hundreds of millions of dollars have poured into the northern suburb of Dallas in the areas of innovation, emerging technology, sports technology & esports. The gaming industry has had a presence in North Texas for the last 30 years, but it is the recent relocation of several esports franchises to the area that has been a huge resurgence for the gaming industry.
Mega popular esports teams such as OpTic Gaming, Allegiance Esports and complexityGaming have all recently received investments in their platforms and relocated to Frisco. Frisco, for its part, has welcomed these esports teams with open arms and is building one of the most respected esports hubs in the country. The Gaming Track at Dallas Startup Week will highlight the impact that these franchises have had for the Dallas startup community. Professional sports teams, which Frisco has many of them, including the world’s most valuable pro-sports team, have all began to take notice of the exploding esports industry and have begun to directly invest.
Sports, like music has always been a universal language of sorts around the world. The recent convergence of traditional sports and esports is creating a global buzz and it’s exciting that Dallas Startup Week will be able to push that discussion forward. Throughout the Dallas Startup Week Gaming track events we will have the following programs:
April 3rd – 1pm at LaunchPad City – “A Happy Marriage: The intersection of Sports & Esports”
April 3rd – 4pm at NoD Coworking – “Gaming Showcase: Indie Game Developers”
